Tondela vs Porto – Liga NOS Prediction and Betting Tip Preview

Liga NOS

On the 2nd matchday of the Portuguese league

Tondela and FC Porto will play their first match home and away, respectively, and the team from Viseu has the chance to reach their first win this season on Liga NOS, while FC Porto will look to get their 2nd triumph in this competition, and stay tied at the top of the league table.

On the home side Azougha and Rafael are confirmed absences. The hosts go into this 2nd week after a 1-1 draw at Santa Maria da Feira, in a match where they were dominated on ball possession, despite playing a decent match, just like their opponent Feirense.

On the beginning of the season they also suffered a loss against Vitória de Setúbal in a League cup match.

After barely escaping relegation on the final matchday of last season, the team is looking for a more peaceful campaign this season, something that I definitely can see happening, even because their manager Pepa has already show some signs of quality, despite his bad spell at Moreirense.

From the FC Porto side, the team played a fantastic match against Estoril Praia, with a remarkable defensive and offensive dynamic, being able to capitalize the several chances they created over the course of the 90 minutes and winning 4-0.

The team didn’t give Estoril any room to breathe during the 1st half, dominating the ball possession and always playing on their opponents’ midfield, despite only being able to broaden their advantage in the 2nd half, with 3 goals, despite being less dominant in that period of the match compared to the 1st half.

Tondela vs FC Porto Pick:

Sérgio Conceição’s Porto has been dominant on their last matches, namely against weaker opponents, as opposed to what happened with Nuno Espírito Santo, and now plays with a more organized and lethal offense, which can result in much better scores against weaker opponents who tend to “park the bus”.

That is a lot different from what happened with NES as coach: the team had a lot of issues breaking their opponents’ defensive wall. I expect Tondela to try this approach match like this as well, presenting themselves tight defensively, trying to break Porto’s offensive routine.

In any way, I don’t expect a very different FC Porto from the one we’ve seen against Estoril, despite playing away from home this time, which should increase the chance for goals to be scored. I think these goals can come up already in the 1st half.

Pick: Over 1 Goal 1st half @ 1.65 10bet
