Bayern München vs Bayer Leverkusen – Bundesliga Prediction and Betting Tip Preview

Bundesliga

On the match that opens the 2017/2018 edition of the Bundesliga

Bayern München, current title holder, and Bayer Leverkusen, who finished 12th last season, will face off.

From Bayern’s side, Bernat, Lewandowski, Javi Martínez and James Rodríguez are the reported absences, while Boatend and Manuel Neuer are still doubtful.

On Leverkusen’s side, the only confirmed absence is Jedvaj, while Sven Bender is still doubtful for this match at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern München: Bayern goes into this match after winning their 5th straight Bundesliga title last season, and they are looking to maintain their domestic success while improving their Champions League’s performance.

The team managed by Carlo Ancelotti had a competent performance in terms of the Bundesliga, but that wasn’t enough to convince the fans, because on the European stage,

The team didn’t perform well at all (and they are yet to take advantage of the fact that they have one of the best generation of players ever to win the Champions League);

On the Bundesliga though, they finished with a 15-point gap to 2nd place Leipzig, having lost only twice all season.

Bayer Leverkusen: Last season, this team had one of their worst performances in recent history on the Bundesliga, finishing on the bottom half of the league table (and at certain point, looking more like they were fighting for survival rather than fighting for European spots).

Their change of manager mid-season only made matters worse (it was completely ludicrous to dismiss Roger Schmidt to hire a manager without any given proof so far, like Tayfun Korkut, who had only shown negative aspects).

For this upcoming season, the team will, once again, bank on a relatively unproven manager – Heiko Herrlich – which, adding to their bad approach to the transfer window so far, can result in another disappointing season, since they lost several starters such as Toprak, Papadopoulos, Çalhanoglu and Chicharito and only hired Bender and Kohr

Bayern vs Leverkusen Pick:

I expect nothing but a comfortable win by Bayern here, as it usually happens with this team in the Bundesliga.

About Bayer, I don’t see things working out too well for them (and if they do, credit will have to be given to their technical staff).

After all I’ve said, I don’t see Leverkusen getting a positive result in this match (despite some heavy absences from the Bavarians, the team still has a lot more quality than their visitors):

Therefore, I expect Bayern to win by, at least, 2 goals, but I trust them to even trounce this fragile Leverkusen’s team.
