Palmeiras vs Santos Betting Tip and Prediction

Palmeiras vs Santos – Brazilian Serie A: On a Saturday filled with great matches, Palmeiras and Santos will feature on the city derby
Closing out this first day of the 32nd round.
Both teams are in good moments of form and they are confident that they can reach their objectives on this Brazilian Serie A, playing an extremely balanced and calculated match, looking for the victory in order not to depend on the results of their opponents.
That way, the probable starting line-up of Palmeiras to face Santos has: Weverton; Jean (Luan), Antônio Carlos, Edu Dracena and Victor Luis; Thiago Santos, Bruno Henrique and Lucas Lima; Dudu, Scarpa (Hyoran, Deyverson or Artur) and Borja.
After the frustration of the elimination from the Copa Libertadores, their great objective of the season, Palmeiras once again turns to the Brazilian Serie A where they’ve gotten a good advantage to clinch the title.
If previously they had a “team for each competition”, the mix of all athletes without the need of resting any of them should improve the team’s performance levels even more on this final stretch of the league.
However, the team is filled with problems for this first encounter, with the first one being the wings that with Mayke and Diogo Barbosa suspended are depending on improvisations like it happened against Flamengo.
The 2nd problem is William, the player that has more minutes for the club on the season and a super important presence on the offensive sector that will also be out for this match.
Finally, the accumulated fatigue of 5 matches in approximately 15 days, which was already visible on the 2nd half against Boca Juniors, should be even worse during this Saturday’s match.
Although the team is only focusing on the Brazilian Serie A again, there are still several issues that should make life hard for them.
Against Santos, I believe that the main problem will be the attack, due to the fact that area was severely criticized last Wednesday and the fact that it still has some absences, so I see the chances of Palmeiras scoring being low.
If there aren’t any surprises, Santos’ starting line-up will be: Vanderlei; Victor Ferraz, Luiz Felipe (Lucas Veríssimo), Gustavo Henrique (Lucas Veríssimo) and Dodô; Alison, Carlos Sánchez and Diego Pituca; Derlis González (Bruno Henrique), Gabigol and Rodrygo.
Cuca will face his former club in the best moment of form he has been all season with Santos and they are expected to play with a lot of hunger in this match.
On the last 5 matches, Santos has won 4 and drew 1, facing teams of “every level” like Atlético-PR, Internacional and Vitória, finally even getting a victory on the derby against Corinthians with a heavily rotated team.
On the last match, against a rotated Fluminense squad, they also had a lot of difficulties in the 1st half, when the rhythm of the midfield wasn’t able to make things work on the attack, resulting on a very predictable game and an easy marking task for the opposition.
As it was stated on the post-match press conference, the changes Cuca made have worked out well, so much that Santos pulled back Pituca and Sanchez to make the first contact with the defensive sector, started to explore the sides of the field more and rapidly increased the goal scoring chances,
despite the 3-0, with the first goal only appearing at the 38th minute, but it wasn’t due to a lack of insistence, it was more because of the good performance of the opposing goalkeeper.
Palmeiras vs Santos – Betting Tip and Prediction:
Out of the last 5 matches, Santos has only conceded goals in one of them. Okay, they’ve conceded 2 goals against Internacional,
but in my opinion those were some unusual plays from an Inter fiercely looking for a result combined with such rare lack of attention under the command of Cuca.
So rare that they’ve only conceded more than 1 goal in 3 out of 15 matches.
As I’ve said previously, the absences on Palmeiras, besides the fatigue doesn’t make me believe they will be able to repeat their previous good offensive displays.
That way, I believe this will be a balanced low-scoring affair, where whoever comes out on top will reinforce its defence in order not to risk any of the points they might be able to conquer.
