Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers – NBA : Despite the fact that the Celtics had a better record

during the regular season (with a 67.1% win-rate against the Sixers’ 63.4%)

The team from Philadelphia is still favoured to advance in this series,

even taking into consideration they will have to cancel out the Celtics’ home advantage (on the last round, the Celtics have eliminated the Bucks by 4-3, winning every game at home and losing every game on the road).

And that’s because, besides the great regular season, they’ve shown a lot of collective and individual quality on the previous round,

against the Miami Heat (winning 4-1), and they will now face a Celtics’ team without their two best players, namely Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward.

Turns out that, on the 1st game of this Eastern semi-final, the Celtics have surprised everyone and performed very well,

with the contributes of Terry Rozier [29 pts, 8 reb, 6 ast; 7/9 3Pts], Jayson Tatum [28 pts] and Al Horford [26 pts, 7 reb, 4 ast; 10/12 FG] standing out, which allowed them to win game 1 and maintain their home advantage.

117-101 was the final result, after the good advantage they gained essentially during the 2nd quarter that the Celtics knew how to manage very well until the end, without the Sixers getting truly and dangerously close.

What was missing in game 1 for the 76ers? Above all, three essential aspects, in my opinion, affected Philadelphia’s game.

Some disorganization and lack of aggressiveness on defence, that is even uncharacteristic from this Brett Brown’s team,

a Ben Simmons below the level he has shown against the Heat (finishing with only 6 assists and 7 turnovers, when his season’s average is 8.2 APG and 3.4 TO) and a terrible strike rate from 3-pts range, with 5 threes made out of 26 attempts (19.2%).

Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers – Betting Tip and Prediction:

In order to advance, the 76ers know they have to win a game in Boston and I don’t see them being satisfied going into Philadelphia losing by 2-0 in the series.

I expect a lot of aggressiveness on defence tonight, unlike what happened in Game 1.

At the same time, it will be hard for us to see another awful performance by the Sixers from 3-pts range (their average on the season is 36.9%)

and, alongside with their intensity on defence, it is very unlikely for us to see three of Celtics’ players overperforming once again.

Not that the youngsters Tatum and Rozier don’t have quality, quite the opposite actually. Al Horford is also a good player and Brad Stevens is one of the coaches who has been making a better job in the NBA.

However, the Sixers are better, they are aware of that, they have to win a game here, and I expect that to happen tonight, with all things considered.
