Brooklyn Nets vs Toronto Raptors – NBA :At a stage where the Toronto Raptors’ board is looking to change directions
Things couldn’t be going better for them up until this point of the regular season. After 26 games played, the Canadian team has already gotten 21 victories, having the best record of the entire NBA.
After having stopped a streak of 8 consecutive victories with the loss at home against the leaders of the West, the Denver Nuggets (106-103), the Raptors have hosted and defeated the Sixers comfortably (113-102), with the highlight going for their good 2nd half.
Nick Nurse’s team only plays again next Sunday, at home, against the 2nd place of the East, the Milwaukee Bucks, on a match that appears leading up to a rough and interesting streak away from home (LA Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Portland Trailblazers and Denver Nuggets).
After a promising start, the Brooklyn Nets have been losing momentum, as we can see by their current record of 8-18 that leaves the team from New York in 12th place of the Eastern Conference, only ahead of the Bulls, the Hawks and the Cavs.
The team is on a streak of 8 consecutive losses.
The last of them took place on Wednesday night, at home, against the Oklahoma City Thunder, that recovered from a 23-points advantage (they were losing by about 20 going into the 4th quarter) to win in Brooklyn by 114-112 with a huge contribution from Paul George.
That was the 2nd consecutive loss with the game slipping through their fingers in the final minutes, after having lost at home against the Cavaliers by 99-97, with Alec Burks hitting the game-winning shot just a few seconds before the buzzer.
Tomorrow, the Nets play again, on a new edition of the New York’s city derby, at the Madison Square Garden, against the Knicks.
There aren’t any known last-minute absences in neither of these teams, with Norman Powell and Malachi Richardson listed as “day-to-day” for the Raptors, while for Kenny Atkinson’s team, Treveon Graham and Caris LeVert are still absent.
Despite the potential there is on the side of the Nets, it seems clear to me that they still don’t have what it takes to fight for the play-offs, despite the improvements that are already visible from the past couple of years.
Except for games where the team really isn’t able to balance things out against their opponents, we have often been seeing games where everything seems to be going well and then they end up losing again, just like it recently happened against the Thunder.
Brooklyn Nets vs Toronto Raptors – Betting Tip and Prediction: :
After 8 consecutive losses, there wasn’t any worst opponent to face than the team with the best record in the NBA.
The Raptors have 5 losses against teams that in normal conditions have everything to reach the play-offs on their respective conferences, and they haven’t been easing up against inferior opponents.
At the decisive moments, if their superstars don’t show up, some other players end up appearing and upon a team with so much quality and depth, that is not coming off a back-to-back and didn’t play yesterday,
I expect the Nets will struggle to stay in the game, especially going into the 4th quarter.
