Multiple and combined bets

LayDraw with protection on the “Time of First Goal” market

As we know, we can bet on a single event or combine a certain number of outcomes, which is called a multiple bet.

Amongst these multiple bets we have the simple ones, where we have to get every selection right regardless of their order because even if the bet is formed by 10 different selections and we “only” get 9 of them right, the bet is completely lost.

Besides the simple multiple bets, we also have the full cover bets.

These ones are more complex, and we’ll try to explain them next. We should highlight that the objective, when opting for these full cover bets instead of a regular multiple bet is profiting a little bit or recovering part of our investment even without nailing every outcome correctly.

We’ll now explain one by one the full cover bets we normally have available on the most popular bookmakers:

Trixie: To make a Trixie cover bet we need to choose 3 selection on different events. A Trixie is formed by 3 doubles (simple multiple bets with 2 selections) and 1 Treble (simple multiple bet with 3 selections).

Hitting 2 of the 3 selected outcomes can already get you some return, because one of the Doubles that formed our Trixie is a winner. Hitting every result, will return the maximum value, because every Double and the Triple that are part of the Trixie will be winners.

Patent: This type of multiple full cover bet is very similar to the Trixie i explained before, since you also need 3 different selections. A Patent bet is formed by 3 singles, 3 doubles and 1 triple, that is, it only adds the 3 single bets when compared to the Trixie.

If we get only 1 outcome right, we already have some return from the single bet we had made, if we get 2 of them right, we get the return of 2 singles and 1 double and if we get the 3 selections right, we win the 7 bets that form our “Patent”.

Yankee: A Yankee is formed by 11 bets made with 4 different selections: 6 doubles, 4 triples and 1 fourfold accumulator and you start to get some returns after 2 correct outcomes predicted.

Lucky15: Lucky15 bets, just like their name tell us are a set of 15 bets. Just like the Yankees, Lucky15’s are formed from 4 selections that are paired in 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 fourfold, along with 4 single bets. Summarizing, and compared to the Yankees, we add 4 single bets, which allows us some return if we only get 1 correct outcome.

Super Yankee or Canadian: We need 5 selections to make a Super Yankee. Super Yankee has 26 bets: 10 Doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four folds and 1 fivefold with 5 selections. In order to receive any returns, you need to get at least 2 outcomes correct.

Lucky31: We need 5 selections to make the 31 bets that form this cover b et. The 31 bets are split between 5 single bets, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four folds and 1 fivefold accumulator. We just need to get 1 correct outcome in order to get some return.

Lucky63: We need 6 selections to make a full cover bet Lucky63. Like the name tells us the 6 selections are distributed by 63 bets: 6 singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four folds, 6 five-folds and one accumulator with all 6 selections. We just need to hit one correct outcome to get some return.

Heinz: Similar to the Lucky63 but without the single bets. It is 57 bets, with 6 different selections: 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, 6 five-folds and 1 accumulator with 6 events.

It is necessary to get 2 selections right in order to get any return.

Super Heinz: There are 120 bets based in 7 different selections, distributed by 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 four-folds, 21 five-folds, 7 accumulators with 6 events and 1 accumulator with 7 events.

We need to get at least 2 selections right in order to get any returns.

Goliath: For this system, we need 8 selections. The 247 bets that form this system are distributed by 28 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 four-folds, 56 five-folds, 28 accumulators with 6 selections, 8 accumulators with 7 selections and one accumulator with 8 events. We need to get 2 outcomes right in order to get any returns.

Other Full Cover Betting Systems:

Alphabet: It is a mix of two full cover betting systems with an accumulator.

We need two selections to make the Alphabet, which is formed by 2 “Patent”, 1 “Yankee” and one accumulator with the 6 selections.

You only need to get 1 outcome correct in order to get any returns.

Combined bets 2/6 6/8 5/8 and similar: A lot of bookmakers present some combined bets this way:

Combined System 2/6 (6 Bets);

Combined System 6/8 (8 Bets);

To better explain this, and taking the example of the combines 2/6, 2 is the number of groups of bets that we will create, in this case doubles, which consequentially is the minimum number of outcomes needed to get any return. As for the 6, it is the number of total selections we need to have for this kind of bet.

Note: To each of these combined systems we can always add a banker, that is, another selection that we think has a very high chance of being correct.

This selection or banker will be present on every bet made on the system, so we always need to get the banker right to get any returns.

Clarifying some doubts regarding multiple bets:

  • How to calculate the odds on a multiple bet: The odds on a multiple bet are obtained by multiplying the individual odds of every outcome selected.
  • When a selection is void, what happens to our multiple bet? The multiple stands, and that selection’s odds become 1.00
