Benfica vs PAOK Prediction and Betting Tips
- Updated: 21st August 2018
Benfica vs PAOK – UEFA Champions League :Benfica: Benfica is starting the season well after having lost the league title last season
that would have been their 5th consecutive one.
On the Champions League, they have had their worst participation ever, getting 0 points on the 6 group stage’s matches.
The Eagles are focused on advancing this last obstacle before reaching the group stage and they have already eliminated the Turks of Fenerbahce on a tie where they’ve won 1-0 at home and travelled to Turkey to get a 1-1 draw.
In the league, they have beaten Vitória de Guimarães by 3-2 and on the past weekend, Boavista, by 2-0, on a trip to Estádio do Bessa.
Ferreyra and Pizzi scored on a great performance. The stadium is expected to be packed for this Champions League’s play-off.
PAOK: PAOK is a reasonable team. On the previous season, they have finished in 2nd place of the Greek league ahead of Olympiakos, for example.
The 2nd place ensured them access to this qualification stage for a spot in the Champions League’s group stage and it is certain that this PAOK has been playing very well.
They’ve knocked out Basel on a tie where they’ve won by 2-1 at home and by 3-0 away from home. Then came the Russians of Spartak Moscow and the Greeks have won that tie with a 3-2 at home and a 0-0 draw in Russia.
I should also mention that against the Russians of Spartak, they were already 0-2 down at the 20th minute of the 1st half and then they came back incredibly. Pelkas, Vieirinha or Prijovic are very dangerous players on this team.
Benfica vs PAOK – Betting Tip and Prediction:
This Benfica is clearly favourite and playing at home, they won’t be able to crumble on a tie that is within their reach, but where the Eagles will have to prove they are better.
A packed stadium is expected, and Benfica ends up having some favouritism on this encounter. PAOK, despite doing well so far, will now face a more organized opponent and with different quality.
PAOK also weren’t favourites against Basel and especially against Spartak, but the Greeks have complicated the lives of Swiss and Russians and have ensured their presence on this play-off.
From what Benfica have been doing on these last couple of rounds, I believe that they will have the control of this tie and especially this match at home.
PAOK should be more defensive and I think that, with the support of their fans, Benfica will end up winning this encounter.
